GoGatekeeper Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened GoGatekeeper image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.


GoGatekeeper is a zero-trust OpenID Connect proxy that sits in front of an upstream service and enforces authentication and authorization before requests are allowed through. It integrates with Keycloak (or any OIDC-compliant provider) to validate access tokens, apply role-based access rules, and supports features such as PKCE, mTLS, encrypted tokens, and Open Policy Agent-based authorization.


Try It Out

For a quick test, print the help menu:

docker run --rm reg.mini.dev/gogatekeeper --help

GoGatekeeper needs a running OpenID Connect provider (such as Keycloak) and an upstream service to proxy. To start the proxy against a real deployment, supply the discovery, client, and upstream details:

  --listen 0.0.0.0:3000 \
  --upstream-url http://upstream-service:80 \

Technical Considerations

The GoGatekeeper image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Quay.io. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

GoGatekeeper built by Minimus:

  1. Runs as non-root by default as user 1000 to match the public image.
  2. Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
