Zalando-Postgres-Operator Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Zalando-Postgres-Operator image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

The Zalando Postgres Operator delivers highly-available PostgreSQL clusters on Kubernetes, powered by Patroni. It manages the full cluster lifecycle, including provisioning, streaming replication, automated failover, backups, and connection pooling, through the postgresql custom resource.

The Zalando Postgres Operator is designed to run inside a Kubernetes cluster and cannot be fully tested standalone with docker run. For a full deployment, refer to the quickstart guide.

Technical Considerations

The Zalando-Postgres-Operator image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

Zalando-Postgres-Operator built by Minimus:

Runs as a non-root user by default, matching the public image's non-root default of user 1000.
Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
