Triton Inference Server Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Triton Inference Server image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.


Triton Inference Server lets teams deploy trained models from different frameworks — TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, TensorRT, and others — behind a single HTTP/gRPC API, so applications don't need a separate serving stack for each framework a model was built with. It handles dynamic batching, concurrent execution across multiple models, and model versioning automatically, letting infrastructure teams run many models efficiently on shared GPU or CPU resources without hand-tuning each deployment.


Try It Out

Prerequisites: A Triton model repository — a directory containing your model files laid out in the format Triton expects.

Start Triton with your model repository mounted:

docker run --gpus=all --rm \
  -p 8000:8000 -p 8001:8001 -p 8002:8002 \
  -v /path/to/model_repository:/models \
  reg.mini.dev/tritonserver \
  tritonserver --model-repository=/models

Omit --gpus=all if you're only serving CPU-compatible models.

Check that the server is up and all models loaded successfully:

curl -v localhost:8000/v2/health/ready

Technical Considerations

The Triton Inference Server image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from NVIDIA NGC. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

Triton Inference Server built by Minimus:

  1. Runs as root to support required functions in alignment with the public image.
  2. Listens on ports 8000/TCP (HTTP), 8001/TCP (gRPC), and 8002/TCP (Prometheus metrics) by default. The image does not expose these ports.
  3. Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
