Rancher-Shell is a container-based terminal interface that provides remote shell access to Kubernetes clusters and their resources. It enables users to execute commands directly against nodes, pods, and containers within a cluster without requiring direct SSH access or local tooling installation. The tool runs as a pod within the cluster and communicates through the Kubernetes API, making it useful for cluster administration, debugging, and troubleshooting.
Technical Considerations
The Rancher-Shell image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
