Rancher-Hardened-Kubernetes is a distribution of Kubernetes that implements security benchmarks and hardening standards, including CIS Kubernetes Benchmark compliance. It provides a pre-configured, security-focused Kubernetes environment with vulnerability patches, restricted pod security policies, and network segmentation built-in, reducing the attack surface and operational security overhead compared to vanilla Kubernetes.
Technical Considerations
The Rancher-Hardened-Kubernetes image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
