\n\n# RabbitMQ Cluster Operator Helm Chart\n\nRabbitMQ Cluster Operator manages the lifecycle of RabbitMQ clusters on Kubernetes, providing automated provisioning, scaling, and configuration of RabbitMQ brokers. The RabbitMQ Cluster Operator Helm chart automates deployment and configuration of the RabbitMQ Cluster Operator (along with the Messaging Topology Operator) in Kubernetes clusters using Minimus images.\n\n \n## {{icon-list-search}} Prerequisites\n\n- A subscription to the Minimus images included in the chart\n- A running Kubernetes cluster (v1.21 or higher is recommended)\n- `kubectl` installed and configured\n- Helm v3.8 or higher for OCI support ([Installation instructions](https://helm.sh/docs/intro/install/))\n- Cluster Admin privileges\n\n**Note**: The chart installs the `RabbitmqCluster` CRD (rabbitmq.com/v1beta1) as well as the Messaging Topology CRDs (`Binding`, `Exchange`, `Queue`, `User`, `Vhost`, etc.). Cluster-scoped RBAC is required to install these resources.\n\n

\n\n## {{icon-rocket}}Try It Out\n\nIn this example we will deploy the RabbitMQ Cluster Operator on a Kubernetes cluster using the Minimus RabbitMQ Cluster Operator Helm chart. Once installed, the operator will be ready to manage `RabbitmqCluster` custom resources.\n\n

\n\n### Step 1: Start Cluster\n\n

\n\nIf you have a cluster to work with, skip this step. Otherwise, start a Minikube cluster. [Deployment instructions](https://minikube.sigs.k8s.io/docs/start/?arch=%2Flinux%2Fx86-64%2Fstable%2Fbinary+download)\n\n

\n\n### Step 2: Create Namespace\n\n

\n\nCreate a namespace:\n\n```\nkubectl create ns rabbitmq-cluster-operator\n```\n\n{{if-enterprise}}\n\nNext, create a Kubernetes secret for the Minimus token:\n\n```\nkubectl create secret docker-registry minimus-registry \\\n --docker-server=reg.mini.dev \\\n --docker-username=minimus \\\n --docker-password={{pull-token}} \\\n --namespace=rabbitmq-cluster-operator\n```\n\n{{/if-enterprise}}\n\n

\n\n### Step 3: Deploy the Helm Chart\n\n

\n\nDeploy the Minimus Helm chart:\n\n```\nhelm install my-rabbitmq-cluster-operator {{oci-url}} \\\n --version {{chart-version}} \\\n -n rabbitmq-cluster-operator \\\n --wait\n```\n\nIf you want to override the chart's defaults, go to the Values tab, save a copy locally with your changes. Deploy the chart with your overrides using `-f values.yaml`:\n\n```\nhelm install my-rabbitmq-cluster-operator {{oci-url}} \\\n --version {{chart-version}} \\\n -f values.yaml \\\n -n rabbitmq-cluster-operator \\\n --wait\n```\n\n

\n\n### Step 4: Verify RabbitMQ Cluster Operator is Running\n\n

\n\nConfirm the chart deployed successfully and the operators started:\n\n```\nkubectl get pods -n rabbitmq-cluster-operator\n```\n\nYou should see output similar to:\n\n```\nNAME READY STATUS RESTARTS AGE\nmy-rabbitmq-cluster-operator-cluster-operator-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxx 1/1 Running 0 2m\nmy-rabbitmq-cluster-operator-msg-topology-operator-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxx 1/1 Running 0 2m\n```\n\nBoth the Cluster Operator and the Messaging Topology Operator should report `Running` with 1/1 ready containers.\n\n

\n\n### Step 5: Create a RabbitMQ Cluster\n\n

\n\nNow that the operator is running, you can create a RabbitMQ cluster managed by it.\n\nSave the following custom resource to a file called `rabbitmq-sample.yaml`:\n\n```yaml\napiVersion: rabbitmq.com/v1beta1\nkind: RabbitmqCluster\nmetadata:\n name: rabbitmq-sample\n namespace: rabbitmq-cluster-operator\nspec:\n replicas: 1\n resources:\n requests:\n cpu: 500m\n memory: 500Mi\n limits:\n cpu: 1\n memory: 1Gi\n```\n\nApply it to the cluster:\n\n```\nkubectl apply -f rabbitmq-sample.yaml\n```\n\nWait for the RabbitMQ cluster to become ready, then verify its status:\n\n```\nkubectl get rabbitmqclusters.rabbitmq.com -n rabbitmq-cluster-operator\n```\n\n

\n\n### Step 6: Clean Up\n\n

\n\nUninstall the chart and delete the namespace to remove all resources:\n\n```bash\nhelm uninstall my-rabbitmq-cluster-operator -n rabbitmq-cluster-operator\nkubectl delete namespace rabbitmq-cluster-operator\n```\n\n
