Portainer-Agent-FIPS Overview
Secure your stack with a FIPS-validated, hardened Portainer Agent image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
The Portainer Agent runs on each node in a Docker Swarm or Kubernetes cluster so a single Portainer server can reach node-specific resources — containers, images, networks, and volumes — across the entire cluster instead of just the node it happens to be talking to. This lets platform teams manage every node in a multi-node environment from one Portainer UI, without SSHing into individual hosts or exposing each node's Docker API directly. Use this image when you need to meet the requirements for FIPS-validated cryptographic protection.
FIPS 140-3 Certification
This image is FIPS-validated to ensure its cryptographic operations meet the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) required for secure government and regulated environments. Its core cryptographic modules are validated under the NIST Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) and comply with the FIPS 140-3 standard.
To verify that the FIPS 140-3 provider is configured and active, follow the instructions in the FIPS compliance tab.
Try It Out
Run Portainer Agent
The agent needs access to the Docker socket and volumes directory to report on node resources:

Run a Portainer server on the same network to pair with the agent:
docker run --rm -d --name portainer \

reg.mini.dev/portainer-ce-fipsVisit https://localhost:9443, accept the self-signed certificate warning, and create an administrator account. This will require the setup token from your Portainer server logs (learn more).
Under Environments > Add environment > Docker Standalone > Agent, enter portainer_agent:9001 as the address.
Portainer connects to the agent over the shared network and can now manage that node's containers, images, networks, and volumes.
Clean Up

The Portainer-Agent-FIPS image provided by Minimus is a FIPS-validated, slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image.
Portainer-Agent-FIPS built by Minimus:
- Runs as root to support required functions in alignment with the public image.
- Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
