OpenTofu is an open-source infrastructure as code tool that enables users to define, provision, and manage cloud and on-premises resources through declarative configuration files. It supports multiple cloud providers and allows teams to version control infrastructure changes, plan modifications before applying them, and maintain reproducible deployments across environments. OpenTofu uses a state file to track resource inventory and manages the full lifecycle of infrastructure from creation through deletion.
Technical Considerations
The Opentofu image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Opentofu built by Minimus:
- Runs as root to support required functions in alignment with the public image.
- Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
