minicli-FIPS Overview

Secure your stack with a FIPS-validated, hardened minicli image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

minicli is the Minimus command-line tool for generating AI skills and managing private images as code, directly from your terminal or CI/CD pipeline. See the list of minicli commands Use this image when you need to meet the requirements for FIPS-validated cryptographic protection.

FIPS 140-3 Certification

This image is FIPS-validated to ensure its cryptographic operations meet the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) required for secure government and regulated environments. Its core cryptographic modules are validated under the NIST Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) and comply with the FIPS 140-3 standard.

To verify that the FIPS 140-3 provider is configured and active, follow the instructions in the FIPS compliance tab.

Try It Out

The minicli-FIPS image requires a Minimus token with minicli access enabled. If you don't have one, you can create it now.

Persist Login via a Mounted Config Directory

Log in once, mounting a local directory to /.minicli so the resulting credentials persist across runs:

TOKEN="{token}"
mkdir -p ~/.minicli
echo "$TOKEN" | docker run -i --rm --user "$(id -u):$(id -g)" \
  -e MINICLI_SERVER="https://api.mini.dev/v1/" \
  -v ~/.minicli:/.minicli reg.mini.dev/minicli-fips login

You should see the confirmation Saved credentials to /.minicli/credentials.json.

You can reuse the mounted credentials to run the container, for example, list your existing private images:

docker run --rm --user "$(id -u):$(id -g)" \
  -e MINICLI_SERVER="https://api.mini.dev/v1/" \
  -v ~/.minicli:/.minicli reg.mini.dev/minicli-fips image list

Provide the Token as an Environment Variable

Alternatively, skip the mounted config and pass the token directly on each run, for example:

TOKEN="{token}"
docker run --rm \
  -e MINICLI_SERVER="https://api.mini.dev/v1/" \
  -e MINICLI_TOKEN="$TOKEN" \
  reg.mini.dev/minicli-fips image list

Technical Considerations

The minicli-FIPS image provided by Minimus is a FIPS-validated, proprietary image used to manage private images and more.

minicli-FIPS built by Minimus:

  1. Runs as non-root by default.
  2. Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
