LD-Relay Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened LD-Relay image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

Use the LD-Relay image to run LaunchDarkly's Relay Proxy, a caching intermediary that maintains a single streaming connection to LaunchDarkly and fans it out to your feature flag SDKs.

Try It Out

For a quick test, print the version information:

docker run --rm reg.mini.dev/ld-relay --version

Start the Relay

Starting the relay requires an SDK key from a LaunchDarkly environment. Run the container, supplying the key as an environment variable:

docker run -d --name ld-relay -p 8030:8030 \
  -e LD_ENV_production=<your_sdk_key> \
  reg.mini.dev/ld-relay

Confirm the relay is listening on port 8030:

docker logs ld-relay

Clean Up

docker stop ld-relay
docker rm ld-relay

Technical Considerations

The LD-Relay image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

LD-Relay built by Minimus:

Runs as a non-root user by default for a security-first approach that protects against privilege escalation attacks.
Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
