Kubo Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Kubo image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
Kubo is the original and most widely used implementation of IPFS, a peer-to-peer protocol for storing and sharing content-addressed data across a distributed network of nodes.
Try It Out
Start the Kubo Daemon
Create local directories for the node's repository and for files you want to add to IPFS:
mkdir -p ipfs-staging ipfs-dataRun the daemon, mounting both directories and publishing the swarm, API, and gateway ports:
docker run -d --name kubo \

Add and Retrieve a File
Add a file to the staging directory, then add it to IPFS from inside the running container:
echo "Hello from Minimus" > ipfs-staging/hello.txt

The Kubo image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Kubo built by Minimus:
- Runs as root to support required functions in alignment with the public image.
- Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
The Payoff
A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
