Kubernetes-DNS-Node-Cache Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Kubernetes-DNS-Node-Cache image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.


Kubernetes-DNS-Node-Cache is a local DNS caching agent that runs as a DaemonSet on each Kubernetes node to cache DNS queries and reduce load on the cluster's core DNS service. It intercepts DNS requests at the node level, serves cached responses for frequently queried domains, and forwards cache misses upstream to the cluster DNS resolver. This improves DNS query latency and reduces overall DNS traffic in the cluster.


Technical Considerations

The Kubernetes-DNS-Node-Cache image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
