Kube-Logging-Operator-Fluentd-FIPS Overview

Secure your stack with a FIPS-validated, hardened Kube-Logging-Operator-Fluentd image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.


Kube-Logging-Operator-Fluentd is the Fluentd build that Kube-Logging-Operator deploys as its log aggregator, receiving logs forwarded by Fluent Bit collectors and routing them onward. It ships with output plugins for common destinations already installed — Elasticsearch, Loki, S3, GCS, Kafka, Splunk, CloudWatch Logs, and others — so platform teams can send logs to the systems they already use without building and maintaining a custom Fluentd image. The Logging Operator swaps this image in through the Logging custom resource's spec.fluentd.image field, so hardening the aggregator doesn't require changing how flows and outputs are configured. Use this image when you need to meet the requirements for FIPS-validated cryptographic protection.


FIPS 140-3 Certification

This image is FIPS-validated to ensure its cryptographic operations meet the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) required for secure government and regulated environments. Its core cryptographic modules are validated under the NIST Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) and comply with the FIPS 140-3 standard.

To verify that the FIPS 140-3 provider is configured and active, follow the instructions in the FIPS compliance tab.


Try It Out

In your project directory, save the code below to a file named demo.conf. This file is used to catch and parse log strings received by Fluentd:

Run the following from the project directory, to initiate a Fluentd container and listen for incoming log strings:

Leave this terminal open. We will use it to monitor incoming log strings.

Initiate a BusyBox container and send the message "Hello Fluentd" to the Fluentd logging monitor:

The Fluentd terminal should log an incoming string, such as:
