Cilium-Operator-AWS Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Cilium-Operator-AWS image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

Cilium is a networking and security solution for Kubernetes and other container orchestration platforms that relies on the Linux kernel technology eBPF. Cilium-Operator-AWS is the AWS-specific variant of the Cilium operator, designed for clusters running on EKS or EC2. It manages cluster-wide networking tasks using AWS-native IPAM and ENI mode, including IP address allocation from VPC subnets, garbage collection of stale identities, and synchronization of Kubernetes resources into Cilium metadata.

Try It Out

Cilium-Operator-AWS can be deployed via Helm charts. See the Cilium chart to get started.

Technical Considerations

The Cilium-Operator-AWS image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

Cilium-Operator-AWS built by Minimus:

Runs as root to support required functions in alignment with the public image.
Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
