Argoexec Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Argo Workflows Executor image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

Argo Workflows is a workflow engine for orchestrating parallel jobs on Kubernetes that can be used to run CI/CD pipelines natively on Kubernetes. ArgoExec is the workflow executor that runs in init containers, the wait sidecar so Argo can capture outputs, handle signals, and coordinate artifacts.

Try It Out

To take the Minimus Argo Workflows executor image for a test run, look up the version information:

docker run --rm \
reg.mini.dev/argoexec version

Technical Considerations

The ArgoExec image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from the Argo project. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

ArgoExec built by Minimus:

  1. Runs as root to support required functions.
  2. Starts with the entrypoint argoexec and a null CMD, aligned with how the emissary executor is invoked.
  3. Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
