Argo Events Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Argo Events image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

Argo Events is an event-based dependency manager for Kubernetes. Use Argo Events to define multiple dependencies from a variety of event sources and trigger Kubernetes objects after successful event dependencies resolution.

Try It Out

For a quick test, print the help menu:

docker run --rm \
reg.mini.dev/argo-events --help

Ready to Run Argo Events Controller?

Run the Argo Events Controller:

docker run --rm -it \
  -v $(pwd)/kubeconfig:/workdir/kubeconfig \
  reg.mini.dev/argo-events controller

Run the Argo Events Controller in a specific namespace:

docker run --rm -it \
  -v $(pwd)/kubeconfig:/workdir/kubeconfig \
  reg.mini.dev/argo-events \
  controller \
    --namespaced \
    --managed-namespace my-namespace

To expose health and metrics endpoints:

docker run --rm -it \
  -v $(pwd)/kubeconfig:/workdir/kubeconfig \
  reg.mini.dev/argo-events \
  controller \
    --health-port 8081 \
    --metrics-port 7777

This configures the controller to expose a health endpoint on port 8081 and metrics on port 7777.

Technical Considerations

The Argo Events image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

Argo Events built by Minimus:

  1. Runs as non-root by default for a security-first approach that protects against privilege escalation attacks.
  2. Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
