Apache Pulsar Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Apache Pulsar image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

Apache Pulsar is a cloud-native, distributed messaging and streaming platform built for high-throughput, low-latency, real-time data pipelines. It provides multi-tenancy, geo-replication, and durable message storage through a broker and segmented log architecture, unifying streaming and queuing workloads in a single system.

Try It Out

Start a standalone Pulsar cluster:

docker run -d \
--name pulsar \
-p 6650:6650 \
-p 8080:8080 \
reg.mini.dev/apache-pulsar \
bin/pulsar standalone

Give the cluster a few moments to finish initializing, then check its status:

curl http://localhost:8080/admin/v2/clusters

["standalone"]

Clean up

docker rm -f pulsar

Technical Considerations

The Apache Pulsar image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

Apache Pulsar built by Minimus:

Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
