Ansible Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Ansible image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
Ansible automates configuration management, application deployment, and multi-server orchestration by connecting to managed hosts over SSH, so no agent software needs to be installed on the systems being managed. Playbooks describe the desired state of servers, network devices, and cloud resources in YAML, letting teams version, review, and re-run the same automation consistently across environments.
Try It Out
For a quick test, print the help menu:

Ansible needs a host to manage. To try it out without setting up SSH access to a remote machine, target the local connection instead:

Create a simple playbook on the host:

The Ansible image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Ansible built by Minimus:
- Runs as root to support required functions in alignment with the public image.
- Ships the full set of Ansible CLI binaries (
ansible,ansible-playbook,ansible-galaxy,ansible-vault,ansible-inventory, and more) with no fixed entrypoint, so the desired binary must be passed as the first argument, as shown above. - Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
The Payoff
