Teleport Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Teleport image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
Teleport provides secure zero-trust access to infrastructure with minimal configuration and cluster management and unified cryptographic identities for humans, machines and workloads, endpoints, infrastructure assets, and AI agents.
Try It Out
To run Teleport, a Teleport configuration YAML must be provided. First, generate a default configuration file:
docker run --rm --entrypoint="teleport" reg.mini.dev/teleport configure --roles=proxy,auth > data/teleport.yamlIn this example we wrote the YAML to data/teleport.yaml on the host but you can modify the write path as necessary.
Next, run the container and mount the folder holding your configuration file:
docker run -d --name teleport -p 3080:3080 \
-v ./data:/etc/teleport \
reg.mini.dev/teleportCheck the Teleport cluster’s current status:
docker exec teleport tctl statusYou should receive a printout such as:
Cluster: 0449a686debc
Version: 18.1.4
CA pins: sha256:4501245a74a330617cc1641596a379149096e2c5f715bbcd51bc1f3fd64e6014

...Technical Considerations
The Teleport image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Teleport built by Minimus:
- Runs as root to support required Teleport functions. The public image also runs as root.
- Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
The Payoff
A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
- See the risk reduction dashboard for a detailed CVE comparison over the past 30 days.
- Review the compliance report to see the default hardening and security configurations for the image.
