Neo4j Overview

Secure your stack with a hardened Neo4j image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.

Neo4j is a high-performance graph database designed to store, model, and query data as a network of interconnected entities.

Try It Out

For a quick test, print the version information:

docker run --rm \
reg.mini.dev/neo4j /bin/bash -c 'neo4j --version'

To run the container, mount the logs and data directories and map the required ports:

docker run --rm \
    -p 7474:7474 \
    -p 7473:7473 \
    -p 7687:7687 \
    -v ./data:/data \
    -v ./logs:/logs \
    -e NEO4J_AUTH=none \
    --user=$(id -u):$(id -g) \

Technical Considerations

The Neo4j image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.

Neo4j built by Minimus:

Runs as non-root by default for a security-first approach that protects against privilege escalation attacks. The public image runs as root.
Listens on but does not expose the default ports: 7473/tcp, 7474/tcp, 7687/tcp. The public image exposes the default ports.
Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.

The Payoff

A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
