Label Studio Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Label Studio image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
Label Studio is a data labeling platform for building and managing annotation projects across images, text, audio, video, and time series data. It provides a configurable labeling interface, support for multiple annotation types, and integrations with popular ML frameworks and storage backends.
Try It Out
Start the Label Studio server:
docker run -d \
--name minimus-label-studio \
-p 8080:8080 \
reg.mini.dev/label-studioWait a minute for the server to initiate and visit http://localhost:8080 in your browser to create an account and start your first project.
Persist data
Label Studio runs as UID 1001 / GID 0. Before mounting a host directory, grant write access to group 0:
mkdir -p label-studio-data
sudo chown :0 label-studio-data
sudo chmod g+w label-studio-dataStart the container with the volume mounted:
docker run -d \
--name minimus-label-studio \
-p 8080:8080 \
-v $(pwd)/label-studio-data:/label-studio/data \
reg.mini.dev/label-studioTechnical Considerations
The Label Studio image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Label Studio built by Minimus:
- Runs as a non-root user (UID 1001, GID 0) in alignment with the public image. Mounted data directories must be group-writable by GID 0.
- Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
The Payoff
A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
- See the risk reduction dashboard for a detailed CVE comparison over the past 30 days.
- Review the compliance report to see the default hardening and security configurations for the image.
