fluent-bit
Fluent Bit Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Fluent Bit image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies.
Use this image to set up a fast, lightweight, and highly scalable logging, metrics, and traces processor and forwarder.
Try It Out
Fluent Bit is famous for being especially lightweight and resource-efficient, with a smaller memory footprint and lower CPU usage. To take the Minimus Fluent Bit image for a test run, we will demonstrate this by having the container collect CPU usage metrics and print them to the terminal:
docker run --rm \
reg.mini.dev/fluent-bit \
/usr/bin/fluent-bit -i cpu -o stdout -f 1Deploy via a Helm chart
Fluent Bit can be deployed via Helm. See the related charts tab to get started.
Technical Considerations
The Fluent-Bit image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Fluent-Bit built by Minimus:
- The image default entrypoint is
/usr/bin/fluent-bit, but it also accepts the standard entrypoint used by the public image:/bin/fluent-bit. - Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
The Payoff
A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
- See the risk reduction dashboard for a detailed CVE comparison over the past 30 days.
- Review the compliance report to see the default hardening and security configurations for the image.
