Delve Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Delve image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
Delve is a debugger for the Go programming language with native understanding of Go's runtime, goroutines, and data structures. It operates as a headless server over a TCP port, allowing IDEs and editors to connect via the Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP) or Delve's JSON-RPC API.
Try It Out
Print the Delve version to verify the image is working:
docker run --rm \
reg.mini.dev/delve versionRemote debugging a Go binary
To debug a precompiled Go binary, expose port 2345 for the remote debugger connection and point to the Go binary:
docker run --rm -p 2345:2345 \
reg.mini.dev/delve --listen=0.0.0.0:2345 --headless=true exec /path/to/go-binaryConnect to the debugger at localhost:2345 from your IDE or a Delve client.
Technical Considerations
The Delve image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Delve built by Minimus:
- Runs as nonroot by default.
- Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
The Payoff
A hardened, minimal image that will remain more secure for the long run and accrue vulnerabilities at a slower rate.
- See the risk reduction dashboard for a detailed CVE comparison over the past 30 days.
- Review the compliance report to see the default hardening and security configurations for the image.
