Cilium-Agent Overview
Secure your stack with a hardened Cilium-Agent image freshly-built by Minimus. Minimus images always include the most up-to-date package version for all packages and dependencies contained in the image.
Cilium is a networking and security solution for Kubernetes and other container orchestration platforms that relies on the Linux kernel technology eBPF. The Cilium-Agent is deployed as a DaemonSet on every Kubernetes node, such that a cilium-agent pod runs on each node in the cluster.

Technical Considerations
The Cilium-Agent image provided by Minimus is a slim, security-hardened alternative to the public image from Docker Hub. The images are largely interchangeable, with a few differences as noted below.
Cilium-Agent built by Minimus:
- Runs as root to support required eBPF and networking functions, including mounting the BPF filesystem and managing host network interfaces. The public image also runs as root.
- Requires elevated privileges and host-level access (host networking, host PID namespace, and mounts such as
/var/run/ciliumand/sys/fs/bpf) for eBPF program loading and network policy enforcement. - The production image does not include a shell or the
ciliumCLI. If you need debugging tools, use the dev image variant. About dev images - Drill down on the version specification tab to see the default user, listening ports, entrypoint, volumes, environment variables, etc.
