Try It Out
In this example we will deploy Kibana on a Kubernetes cluster using the Minimus Kibana Advanced Helm chart. Kibana will be configured with hardened security settings and ready to connect to your Elasticsearch cluster.
Step 1: Start Cluster
If you have a cluster to work with, skip this step. Otherwise, start a Minikube cluster. Deployment instructions
Step 2: Create Namespace
Create a namespace:
kubectl create ns kibana-advanced
Step 3: Deploy the Helm Chart
Deploy the Minimus Helm chart:
helm install my-kibana-advanced oci://helm.mini.dev/kibana-advanced \
--version 12.1.10 \
-n kibana-advanced \
--wait
If you want to override the chart's defaults, go to the Values tab, save a copy locally with your changes. Deploy the chart with your overrides using -f values.yaml:
helm install my-kibana-advanced oci://helm.mini.dev/kibana-advanced \
--version 12.1.10 \
-f values.yaml \
-n kibana-advanced \
--wait
Step 4: Verify Kibana Advanced is Running
To check that the pod was successfully created run:
kubectl get pods -n kibana-advanced -l app.kubernetes.io/name=kibana
You should see output similar to:
NAME READY STATUS RESTARTS AGE
my-kibana-advanced-kibana-0 1/1 Running 0 2m
Step 5: Test HTTP Endpoint
Connect to Kibana using port-forward:
kubectl port-forward svc/my-kibana-advanced-kibana 5601:5601 -n kibana-advanced
In another terminal, verify the HTTP endpoint is responding:
curl -sf http://localhost:5601
You should receive a response from Kibana. If you see the Kibana interface or a redirect, the deployment is fully operational.
Step 6: Clean Up
Uninstall the chart and delete the namespace to remove all resources:
helm uninstall my-kibana-advanced -n kibana-advanced
kubectl delete namespace kibana-advanced
