Try It Out
In this example we will deploy Fluent Bit on a Kubernetes cluster using the Minimus Fluent Bit Helm chart. Fluent Bit will collect and forward logs from all nodes in the cluster.
Step 1: Start Cluster
If you have a cluster to work with, skip this step. Otherwise, start a Minikube cluster. Deployment instructions
Step 2: Create Namespace
Create a namespace:
kubectl create ns fluent-bit
Step 3: Deploy the Helm Chart
Deploy the Minimus Helm chart:
helm install my-fluent-bit oci://helm.mini.dev/fluent-bit \
--version 0.57.7 \
-n fluent-bit \
--wait
If you want to override the chart's defaults, go to the Values tab, save a copy locally with your changes. Deploy the chart with your overrides using -f values.yaml:
helm install my-fluent-bit oci://helm.mini.dev/fluent-bit \
--version 0.57.7 \
-f values.yaml \
-n fluent-bit \
--wait
Step 4: Verify Fluent Bit is Running
Confirm the chart deployed successfully and Fluent Bit started:
kubectl get pods -n fluent-bit
You should see output similar to (one pod per node):
NAME READY STATUS RESTARTS AGE
my-fluent-bit-xxxxx 1/1 Running 0 1m
Step 5: Check Fluent Bit Health
Port-forward to the Fluent Bit service to check the health endpoint:
kubectl port-forward svc/my-fluent-bit -n fluent-bit 2020:2020
Then verify that the health endpoint responds:
curl http://localhost:2020/api/v2/health
Step 6: Clean Up
Uninstall the chart and delete the namespace to remove all resources:
helm uninstall my-fluent-bit -n fluent-bit
kubectl delete namespace fluent-bit
